Make sure that you have a web cam (it is essential!) and it is installed properly.
Make sure you have Flash player installed, if not, you can download the most recent version here.
When you first load OIC you will be asked to allow Adobe Flash to access your webcam. Click allow to use your webcam
If you find that your video stream does not appear, right click to get Flash player settings. Go to the cam tab on the right hand side. Finally chose the camera you want to use.
When you are successful a lovely video of you should appear! If not make sure that you are not using your webcam in any other applications.
Make sure you are in a well lit room and you choose a colour that is the not the same as your wallpaper or your jumper.
If you are finding that your puppet's head is going transparent, it means that OIC can't find the exact colour. Try picking a different colour.
Often skin tones track very well, but why not experiment?
We have had a go with bottle tops, glow sticks, cereal packets, Yellow Pages, junk mail, sweet wrappers, fridge magnets, credit cards, brightly coloured pets and santa hats...so basically anything. However the best items to colour track are matt so you do not get any distortion from the shine. However if you can't find any colourful things to track here is a .pdf that you can download, print out and use (colour printer required).
